# Community

> Channels, posts, comments, likes, and membership.

**Community** is channels with posts, comments, and likes.

## Join and post

    Pick a channel you belong to, or join an open one.

    Write a post. Others can comment and like. The author is notified (not for their own comments or likes).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pin">
    Channel managers can pin a post so it stays at the top.
  </Step>

## Manage a channel (community managers)

Owners and admins (and custom roles with community permission) can:

    Name, slug, and visibility.

  <Step title="Members">
    Add someone by email, change member vs manager, or remove them. Added people are notified.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Link a course">
    Tie the channel to a course so the right cohort has a place to talk.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Delete">
    Deleting a channel is confirmed. It removes posts and comments in that channel.
  </Step>

Instructors do **not** get community-admin permission by default.
