Publishing puts a course on the academy catalogue. Archiving takes it off without deleting learner progress.

Publish

1

Finish the curriculum

You need at least one module with lessons. Publish permission is required.
2

Publish from the editor

Confirm the summary (modules, lessons, blocks). The first publish creates the public page. Later publishes update it.
3

Who is notified

Already-enrolled learners get Course published or Course updated. A brand-new course has no enrolments yet, so nobody is notified the first time.

Archive and restore

1

Archive

From the course page, archive it. Enrolled learners are notified that it is no longer available. Progress is kept.
2

Restore

Restore to Published from the same toolbar. Restoring does not send a second publish notification.

Delete

Deleting a course is a confirmed, destructive action for staff. Prefer archive unless you are sure the course should disappear.
